DJ's Development Evaluation

DJ had his Developmental Evaluation yesterday. The Specialist came to the house and asked me a lot of questions and then started some exercises with DJ. She went through a book and asked him to point out the animal, color, or shape. He did great with that. She then had him put some puzzles together and say what the puzzle piece was. Again, he did great with that. After the Evaluation was over, she was telling me how he scored. He is now 25.5 months old.

Gross Motor Skills - 27 - 31 Months

Fine Motor Skills - 28 - 32 Months

Speech - 16 months

As you can see he is at a 16 month age for his speech. She told me that the cut off was at around 16 months and when the Speech Therapist comes on Wednesday to do her Evaluation we will see if he qualifys for the Speech Therapy Program. So cross your fingers that he qualifys!

She also told me to get him on the waiting list for the Head Start Program. He has to be 3 years old to go and if I put him on the list now he should be able to start after he turns 3, The waiting list time is usually about a year. Also I should get him into some Play Groups, Like a Mommy & Me or some sort of Preschool.

So today I will be calling the school district and ask them what kind of services they have for toddlers, and she said to tell them that he is in the Alta Regional Program. So hopefully we can get him into something soon! He really needs to get out and play with more kids, Because she said that he will learn more from his peers than adults.

Now we just get to wait till Wednesday for his Speech Therapist Evaluation. Wish us Luck!
