DJ's Development Evaluation

DJ had his Developmental Evaluation yesterday. The Specialist came to the house and asked me a lot of questions and then started some exercises with DJ. She went through a book and asked him to point out the animal, color, or shape. He did great with that. She then had him put some puzzles together and say what the puzzle piece was. Again, he did great with that. After the Evaluation was over, she was telling me how he scored. He is now 25.5 months old.

Gross Motor Skills - 27 - 31 Months

Fine Motor Skills - 28 - 32 Months

Speech - 16 months

As you can see he is at a 16 month age for his speech. She told me that the cut off was at around 16 months and when the Speech Therapist comes on Wednesday to do her Evaluation we will see if he qualifys for the Speech Therapy Program. So cross your fingers that he qualifys!

She also told me to get him on the waiting list for the Head Start Program. He has to be 3 years old to go and if I put him on the list now he should be able to start after he turns 3, The waiting list time is usually about a year. Also I should get him into some Play Groups, Like a Mommy & Me or some sort of Preschool.

So today I will be calling the school district and ask them what kind of services they have for toddlers, and she said to tell them that he is in the Alta Regional Program. So hopefully we can get him into something soon! He really needs to get out and play with more kids, Because she said that he will learn more from his peers than adults.

Now we just get to wait till Wednesday for his Speech Therapist Evaluation. Wish us Luck!

Busy... Week 28

This weekend I went to my friend Stefani's Baby Shower. She is due on Sept. 9th with a little boy who they are naming Drew. I made her a Diaper Cake. Everyone at the shower loved it! I was very proud of myself :) I found a "lovie" just like the one my friend Shannon got for me when I found out that I was pregnant with DJ :)

She got a lot of very cute clothes. It makes me want to have another one :) But that is a whole other subject. She got a cute shirt that says "Lock Up Your Daughters" and OMG I immediately thought of Jonathan, her husband.. lol

T.V. Tuesday

Photobucket

I started watching a new show called "Drop Dead Diva" and OMG it is Hilarious! It is Lifetime's spirited new comedic drama series that puts a wildly unique and entertaining spin on the complex issues of a woman's identity in today's world.

The show tells the story of a beautiful-but-vapid model wannabe, Deb *in blue above*, who has a fatal car accident and suddenly finds herself in front of Heaven's gatekeeper, Fred, who declares her a self-centered "zero." Outraged, Deb attempts to persuade Fred to return her to her shallow existence but is accidentally relegated to the body of the recently deceased Jane Bingum *in orange above* . A brilliant, thoughtful and plus-size attorney with a loyal assistant (Margaret Cho), Jane has always lived in the shadow of her more comely colleagues, whereas Deb has always relied on her external beauty. Now, by a twist of fate and a bolt of divine intervention, Deb must come to terms with inhabiting Jane’s plus-size frame and learn to reconcile her beauty queen ways with her brilliant new mind.

Speech Therapy

I got a letter in the mail telling me about the Speech Therapists we have. They are going to call me within the next week and schedule his Speech Evaluation Test. He does great with talking, its just that he tends to cut either the first or last part of the word, IE: Outside - aside, Dog - Gog, Banana - anana, Monkey - anonkey... get the drift :)

when he takes the test they will decide if he needs Speech Therapy and then refer him to a center and offer other alternatives.

His Dr. thinks he needs it because when he had all of the ear infections, his hearing was muffled and he couldn't hear the correct pronunciation. I read to him everyday and I got him some alphabet puzzles and shape puzzles, he loves to do the puzzles but hates it when Reagan takes them... lol Typical!

The cool thing about the Speech Therapy is that they can come to your house and do the speech sessions. I think that is so great. I could schedule it to where Reagan is napping when they come!

So we will find out soon....
