- 5 Granny Smith Apples
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 1/3 c Sugar
- 2 tablespoon Brown Sugar
- Pie Crust {premade or homemade will work. I chose premade.}
- Cut off the top of 5 apples off and discard. Remove the inside of each apple with a spoon or melon baller very carefully, as to not puncture the peel.
- Mix sliced apples with sugars and cinnamon in a bowl. If you prefer more or less cinnamon make adjustments as desired. Same goes for the sugar.
- Have your adorable helper scoop sliced apples into hollow apples.- Cover the tops in whatever pattern/shapes you want!
- Place apples in an 8×8 pan. Add just enough water to the cover the bottom of the pan.
- Cover with foil and bake for 20-25 minutes. {I used my Demarle round mold and my octagon silpat top instead of the foil and pan.}
- Mine didn't turn out so great... lol I think I hollowed them out too thin.. oh well, they were still pretty tasty!!
They tasted fabulous with some vanilla ice cream! If you make them, let me know how yours turn out!!
Happy Monday!!!

Oh my those look delicious!!
I'm wondering if you should bake them with the top off for the first few minutes to set the crust. I also won't use water with them in my Demarle round mold. Alternatively, one could top the apples with a crumb crust--just bake with the top off first, I'd think. For those who like lower carb fare, you could do no crust at all and use Truvia with the cinnamon. This recipe has great potential for all and I can't wait to try it!
I saw another site with this recipe but she lined the apple insides with the pie crust as well. Maybe that gave the apples some stability.
