It's Official.....

DJ's Getting Tubes.

We went to his ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) appt this morning and we did the hearing test and he did okay but you can tell he cant hear that well. We went into a soundproof room and dj and i sat in the middle of the little room. there were speakers and a small tv at the two corners we were facing. They would then pake a beep or a buzz noise, and if dj looked that way they would show a picture. If he didnt they would make the sound louder and louder till he heard it.After that we went back out and sat down in the lobby. Then we waited for 45 minutes for the dr because he was in surgery. While we are waiting, DJ is getting really tired because he woke up at 6:30am to leave at 7am because his appt was at 8am and we had to go all the way over by cal expo, So he is screaming and throwing a fit. Thank Goodness the backyardigans came on in the lobby and calmed him down. Finally we got called in to the room and waited another 15 minutes. Finally when the Dr. Came in he Looked in his ears, told us DJ needs tubes, went over the procedure and left.. we only saw the dr for like 5 minutes max... He was in and out so fast we couldnt even ask questions... Ugh!

How the surgery will go:We will get there about 1/2 hour before the surgery, Fill out paperwork, then get into a pre-op room. We will then change dj into a patient gown, and only one of us can go with him to the pre op area until they take him into the O.R. They will then put him to sleep, thats when they do the IV and they put a tylenol suppository also for the pain. The procedure only takes about 10 - 15 minutes: inserting the tubes, putting drops and cotton balls in, and done. When they go into recovery they will get us imediatly, so we can be in there with him. A friend told me that there heads are all wobbly like a newborn, from the anesthesia. they cant hold there heads up that good because there equilibrium will be WAY off. We will be in the recovery room about an hour, or however long dj needs. He will be really tired, cranky, and sore for the first 24-48 hours.

I started to think about the surgery and him being put out for the procedure, i started crying. i know he will be okay its just nerve racking and my emotions going wild. Dave will be taking the day off and my sister will be there with us. My dad might watch Reagan so dave and i can concentrate on DJ. My friend Ellie might come up and be with us also.

We are waiting for the Authorization from his insurance, once that gets back they will call us and we can set a Surgery Date... When we find out the date i will let ya'll know :)
